Flexible Schedule – The work of fit model is not the traditional job from 9 to 5. The fit modeling is just a call away from the fashion manufacturer’s call. The shifts vary from days to weeks depending on the season, number of samples. You may have to work on “on-call” basis.
The fit models have five standard types of fit; junior, missy, contemporary, plus size and petite. These measurements and proportional are entirely based on age.
The Pay of a Fit Model
The fit modeling isn’t as glamorous as it sounds – it’s thankless, requires immense hard work and exhausting. The $55-$100 hourly rate is what you can expect from the largest employee in the fashion industry.
If you’re just beginning to work as a fit model, you may expect a salary much lower like $20 per hour. Sometimes as a newbie, you’ve to work for free to get your portfolio. However, the experienced fit models easily earn around $200 an hour.
You’re going to be treated as a live mannequin and an inanimate object – the fashion industry is known to pay tons of money to models of any kind. So, on average, the fit model earns around $150 and during the most seasoned and sought after ones make a whopping $400 or more just for an hour.
